Our Story
In April 1965, the Fifth Street Baptist Mission was constituted as Fifth Street Baptist Church under Pastor Wallace Rivers. In the 1980’s and 90’s, Fifth Street Baptist was instrumental in local missions by establishing Sugarloaf Baptist Mission which later became Sugarloaf Baptist Church and by supporting White Street Baptist Church as a mission until they could reestablish as a church.
Fifth Street Baptist Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and is actively involved in world missions through the Florida Keys Baptist Association, Florida Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Today, Fifth Street Baptist Church is the southernmost English speaking Southern Baptist Church and impacts our community through Sunday School, Disciple Training, children’s and youth programs, Vacation Bible School, and so much more!
