The Joy of Reaching Others
I want to talk with you about what brings Jesus joy. We all find joy in different things. Maybe it's our families, our work, the comforts of life. But here's what I'm asking you today: what gives Jesus joy? Because if our Lord and Savior finds joy in something, we should probably find joy in the same things. Today we're looking at Luke 10 where the 70 disciples return from ministry absolutely rejoicing. They've cast out demons in Jesus' name. Even Jesus himself rejoices greatly at what He's seeing. Satan is falling like lightning as souls are being won. But here's the thing Jesus reminds them of. Don't rejoice just in the power and miracles. Rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Rejoice in salvation. That's eternal. That's what matters.
Jesus rejoices in reaching the lost. This is the only time Luke records Jesus rejoicing, and it happens when souls are being saved. The 70 went out, people came to know Jesus, and our Lord celebrated that moment. He celebrated it in the presence of the Holy Spirit and the Father. Generations of prophets and kings longed to see what you and I get to see right now. They longed to witness the Messiah saving lives. So as you walk out of here today, I want to ask you this: will you rejoice in what Jesus rejoices in? Will you go and share the good news so that others might experience that same eternal salvation? Because that's where true joy is found.
