We exist as a church to evangelize the lost, equip the saved, and serve our community to the glory of God. This is not just a mission statement on our walls but a calling on our lives. The question is not whether we have a purpose in the body of Christ, but whether we will step into it. Just as every part of your physical body serves a function, so every part of the church serves a purpose. You are not here by accident. You are indispensable. Your neighbor does not have your gifts. Your coworker cannot do what God has called you to do. This year we are embracing one unified God-sized goal: to evangelize the lost, equip the saved, and serve the community to the glory of God through spiritually forming disciples of Christ who are united in ministry.

So what does this look like for you? Commit five hours a week to your local church. Come to a worship service to gather with the body and stir one another toward love and good works. Join a discipleship group to grow deeper in your faith and in community with other believers. And find a place to serve, to use your gifts to build up the body of Christ. The watching world will know we are His disciples not by our programs or our buildings, but by our love for one another. As we stand united in purpose and relationship, the world will see something different. They will see Jesus. Will you commit to being a healthy, productive member of the body of Christ this year?
