Palm Sunday: A Different Kind of King
For centuries, God's people waited for a king to save them, but when He finally arrived, He came different than anyone expected. The crowds lined the streets shouting "Hosanna, save us," waving palm branches, anticipating a military conqueror who would overthrow Rome. But Jesus rode in on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy in a way that revealed something far greater than earthly victory. Just like the crowds misunderstood who Jesus was, we often try to reshape Him into the kind of king we want Him to be. Yet Jesus is a different kind of king altogether. His kingdom is not of this world but transcends everything this world has to offer, so why do we spend our energy worrying about temporal things when we serve the King of kings and Lord of lords?
Here's the stunning truth about His kingdom. Jesus knew that within days, the same people shouting "Hosanna" would cry "crucify Him." He knew this. He walked into Jerusalem fully aware of the suffering awaiting Him, and He did it anyway. Why? Because that's how He saves us. Jesus won His victory not through conquest but through sacrifice. He emptied Himself, took the form of a servant, lived perfectly, and surrendered His own life on the cross as the Passover Lamb for our sins. This isn't just a nice story about Palm Sunday. This is your King. This is why you should pledge allegiance to Him and live differently knowing what He accomplished for you. If you're here today, Jesus is calling you to repent from your sin and believe in Him as your Savior and Lord so that you may be saved and spend eternity with God in paradise.
