The Transfiguration
Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up to a high mountain where he is transfigured before them, his appearance changing and his clothes becoming radiantly white. Moses and Elijah appear and speak with Jesus, affirming that he is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies about the coming Messiah. God's voice declares from a cloud, "This is my beloved Son, listen to him." Even after witnessing this, the disciples still struggle to grasp that Jesus must first suffer and die before rising again. Jesus has to correct their misunderstanding about the order of events, telling them he must suffer before Elijah comes at the end of days.
Let us challenge ourselves to take a step of faith, fully committing to follow Jesus even when it requires sacrifice or is difficult. We must be willing to "jump off the bridge" and trust him completely, counting everything as loss next to knowing Christ. As believers, we are in a spiritual battle and must stand firm as obedient disciples. The key message is to listen to Jesus, believe in his sacrifice, and follow him wherever he leads. We must stand strong in this battle and continue fighting faithfully for our Lord and Savior.
