The New Self Pt.3
In Colossians 3:1-17, we are called to walk in the new life that Christ has given us. We are no longer defined by our old selves, but we are a new creation in Him. As believers, we must set our hearts on things above, pursuing holiness and leaving behind the sinful ways of our past. God has called us to take off the old life and put on a new one, like clothing, adorned with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. These are the qualities that should define our relationships with one another in the body of Christ. We forgive as we’ve been forgiven, and love binds it all together in perfect unity.
The peace of Christ should rule in our hearts and in our church, guiding us in all that we do. When we live this way, Scripture becomes our life’s manual, teaching us how to follow Jesus in word and deed. Whether through teaching, worship, or song, the Word of Christ should dwell richly among us, leading us to live every moment for His glory. Let us commit today to putting on these virtues, living in peace, and allowing the Word of God to shape every part of our lives, so that everything we do is done in the name of Jesus.
