Christmas Eve Celebration
Why did God incarnate as flesh and dwell among us? This question is central to our faith, and every person must contemplate it in their lifetime. According to Jesus' own declaration, He came "to seek and save that which was lost." This mission underlines the entire narrative of the Christian faith. God, in His infinite wisdom and love, created the world, including us, for a harmonious and eternal relationship with Him. This purpose was evident in the creation of Adam and Eve, designed to live in perfect communion with God. However, the fall in Eden, precipitated by Adam and Eve's sin, ruptured this ideal relationship. Humanity, consequently, descended into a state of sin and separation from God, losing the intended perfection.
Jesus Christ's advent, which we commemorate during Christmas, is God's direct intervention to redeem this lost relationship. Jesus, the Son of God, lived a sinless life, embodying God's will in every aspect, thus contrasting the fall of humanity. His crucifixion, a selfless act of sacrifice, served as the atonement for our sins. In this divine act, Jesus absorbed the wrath of God, which we deserved, offering us salvation and grace in its place. His resurrection, a triumphant conquest over death and sin, signifies the restoration of what was lost in Eden. As we celebrate Jesus' birth, we are reminded of this profound truth: God became man to reclaim and redeem us. This celebration is not just a remembrance of a historical event but an invitation to embrace this salvation. It's a call to recognize our sins, turn towards Jesus as our Savior, and enter into a renewed relationship with God, fulfilling the purpose for which we were originally created.
