The Importance of Context & Bible Study
When we read Scripture, it is essential to read it in context. When you read a verse, consider how it fits in with the verses before and after. Resist the temptation to cherry-pick a single verse, ignoring the context, just because you like what it says! However, further than that, consider the socio-historical context of the Bible. What was the culture like? To whom was the writer primarily addressing? These things help us dive deeper into studying the Bible. Once we do that, we should gather in a Bible study group to discuss what we have read. Read your Bible in context, gather with other believers in a small group, and tell others about Jesus.
