Builders and Foundations
Jesus tells us plainly that calling Him Lord is not enough. If we do not do what He says, we are like a man who builds a house with no foundation. When the storm comes, and it will come, that house collapses and its ruin is great. But the one who hears His words and puts them into practice is like the man who digs deep and builds on the rock. The floods beat against the house, but it stands firm because it was built on a solid foundation. That foundation is Christ alone.
Too many of us are content to hear the Word but never live it. We say the right things, but our lives reveal no fruit. Jesus warns that on the day of judgment, it will not be enough to say “Lord, Lord.” What matters is whether we obeyed Him. So I ask you today, are you a hearer only, or a doer also? Have you built your life on the bedrock of Jesus, or on the shifting sands of comfort and convenience? The storm is coming. What you’ve built will be tested.
