Jesus Raises a Widow's Son
Do you feel broken, worn out, or like hope has left the room? In Luke 7, we see Jesus walk into a funeral, face-to-face with a widow whose only son had died. She was not only grieving, she was ruined. No husband, no son, no future. But when Jesus saw her, He didn’t just offer words. He reached into her grief with compassion and spoke with power. “Young man, I say to you, arise.” And the dead sat up. That same Christ is alive today, full of compassion and full of authority. He meets us in our sorrow and has the power to bring the dead things in our lives back to life.
Jesus wasn’t concerned with ritual or appearance. He touched the unclean. He spoke to the broken. And when the people saw what He had done, they feared and glorified God, crying out that a prophet had come and that God had visited His people. But He’s more than a prophet. He is Priest, King, and Savior. The one who came not just to comfort us but to conquer sin and death itself. Do you know that Jesus? Do you trust the One who raises the dead? Today, He still speaks, and His words still give life.
