A Good Work Continues
What do we need right now? We need prayer, and we need to remember two things. First, biblical unity. Second, how to transition well. The book of Philippians speaks directly to both. Paul wrote it from a prison cell, facing his own uncertain future, and he wrote to a church facing new leadership. Listen to what he says: "I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." God started this work. God will finish this work. Everything in between is God. Our partnership here at Fifth Street isn't tied to any one leader. It's greater than any pastor, any season, any transition. It's rooted in Jesus Christ. So as leaders change and circumstances shift, our calling remains the same. We are partners in the gospel, and God's good work continues.
We need to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel. That means when we face hardship, we ask how we can glorify God through it. When we disagree, we do so as people bound together by the love of Christ. When transitions come, we remember our true foundation is not in circumstances but in the unchanging character of God. Love one another well. Use discernment. Bear fruit. And as we do, understand this: opposition we face for Christ's sake is a gift that makes us more like Him. The good news of Jesus is not disrupted by change. It advances through our faithfulness. So let us be united around this gospel, confident that God who began this good work will complete it, and that we, as His people, are privileged to be partners in spreading His kingdom to this island and beyond.
