The Attitude of Christ
Jesus showed us radical humility by emptying Himself, setting aside His divine privileges to become a servant. He didn't lose His identity as God, just as we don't lose ourselves when we put others' interests first. This isn't about self-loathing or becoming a doormat. True humility means we stop thinking about ourselves altogether and start thinking about how we can lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ. When we embrace this mindset, we become lights in a dark world that desperately needs to see genuine love and unity among believers.
So how do we work this out practically in our lives? Paul calls us to live without grumbling or disputing and to rejoice in the gospel even when circumstances are difficult. Our joy doesn't depend on what we're going through or whether we get what we want. It's rooted in Christ and the finished work of the cross. When we model this attitude together as a church, we show the world what genuine partnership in the gospel looks like. We move from one person carrying all the weight to everyone doing the work together, advancing the good news of Jesus Christ to a world that desperately needs Him.
