Salvation Divides

​Jesus did not come to bring peace on earth. Sound surprising? Luke 12:51 records Jesus saying, "Do you think I have come to bring peace on earth? No, I have come to bring division."

This means that Jesus came to bring peace, but it is not our secular concept of world peace. Because Jesus' mission is to seek and save the lost, ultimately bearing the sins of the world on the cross, and bringing peace between man and God for those who believe in Him. So, Jesus does bring peace, and the Apostle Paul in Romans 5 reminds us that we have peace with God through Jesus Christ. But that is not a "peace on earth" as most people understand it.

Jesus came to reconcile us with God. That is a longer-lasting peace, for it's eternal peace. And that solves the greatest problem we have. It may be a great problem, the strife and conflict on earth, but the greatest problem humanity has ever faced is a sin problem. And Jesus died to eliminate that sin problem so we can go to paradise, to heaven, and spend eternity with God, reconciling us to Him, should we repent and believe in Jesus Christ.

That is humanity’s greatest need, and that is why you and I are called to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them all that Christ has commanded us. Because we know He will be with us always. Let me encourage you: ​go share the gospel boldly so that people may repent, believe, and experience peace with themselves and with God.
